Pückler-Muskau, Hermann Fürst von, Briefe eines Verstorbenen: Ein fragmentarisches Tagebuch aus Deutschland, Holland, England, Wales, Irland und Frankreich, geschrieben in den Jahren 1826 bis 1829. 1830. One of the main instruments leading phrenology back to Germany. This work was extremely successful in 19th century Germany. Pückler was an enthusiastic phrenologist and the work contains many amusing anecodotes including a visit to and reading by Deville in 1827. Available in English translation.

Visit the Making of America site at the University of Michigan. Recently 1020 matches were found in their holdings of books, pamphlets, and journal articles for the word phrenology. Unfortunately most are in inconvenient image form- but all have an uncorrected text correlate which can be searched & downloaded.
